ABOUT VERPLANKEN (1)
Verplanken’s path embraced not only aspects of English psychedelic music mainly
illustrated by Soft Machine, Gong and Pink Floyd but also the American minimalist movement inspired by Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Philip Glass.
In the early 70s, an unexpected concert by Terry Riley instead of the scheduled rock band
Humble Pie affected him deeply and provoked a powerful impact on his musical practises.
From his encounter with Daevid Allen and Kevin Ayers in the South of France when he was
only 15 years old, emerges his passion for experimental compositions and dreamy atmospheres.
His work reflects all these musical influences. Quite obviously, Verplanken intends to share his passion for the psychedelic and minimalist culture. Verplanken is a solo artist who composes his music like a painter whose style ranges from Fauvism to Surrealism.
